Tax Specialist I/II - Remote

Overview

The Tax Specialist is responsible for preparation of complex federal and state tax matters including the tax returns, financial statement reporting, and related tax controversy.

In Short

• Prepare both federal and state/franchise income tax returns (Corporation and Partnership)
• Assist with federal and state tax controversy matters, including notices, audits and appeals.
• Research tax laws and document positions to support tax filings and planning matters and stay current on tax law changes.
• Prepare state tax apportionment computations.
• Assist with the annual R&E tax credit review, process and documentation
• Assist with tax estimate calculations and make payments with taxing authorities
• Participate in process improvements, tax technical research and other special projects

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax compliance required; Large public company, public accounting or accounting experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a closely related field
• Experience with communicating with tax authorities preferred
• Experience with Thomson Reuters tax compliance software preferred
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and meet deadlines
• Experience with tax research
