Controller - Remote

Overview

Emergent Software is seeking an experienced Controller to own the company’s accounting operations and financial reporting as the business continues to scale. This role is critical to ensuring GAAP-compliant financials, strong internal controls, and reliable reporting to leadership.

In Short

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements
• Maintain accurate revenue, margin, and expense reporting
• Own and maintain ASC 606 revenue recognition policies
• Review customer contracts for accounting implications
• Manage accounting operations (AR, AP, GL)
• Maintain internal controls and balance sheet reconciliations
• Serve as a finance owner within NetSuite
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller
• 2+ years of experience in a services-based organization
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment
• Strong understanding of project-based accounting
• Ability to manage a full close process
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
