Overview

Earthjustice seeks a Senior Attorney to join our team of lawyers who work to accelerate a shift from coal- and gas-fired electricity generation, to advance clean energy throughout the country, and to address the toxic legacy of fossil fuel combustion. The Senior Attorney will focus on litigation, advocacy and strategy before administrative bodies and courts in support of an equitable transition to clean, affordable, and reliable energy.

In Short

  • Lead complex climate and energy cases before administrative agencies, and state and federal courts.
  • Conduct factual investigations and develop legal theories.
  • Collaborate in team problem solving and litigation strategy.
  • Prepare discovery, pleadings, and oral arguments.
  • Supervise and mentor Associate Attorneys and interns.
  • Work with media and policy teams to leverage legal advocacy.
  • Build relationships with diverse clients and partner organizations.
  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Support Earthjustice’s mission for a healthy environment.
  • Ability to travel for case work and presentations.

Requirements

  • Law school graduate admitted or eligible for bar admission.
  • 6+ years of litigation and legal advocacy experience.
  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant US jurisdiction.
  • Ability to manage litigation dockets and lead teams.
  • Experience with environmental and administrative law preferred.
  • Strong research, analytic, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
  • Commitment to public interest work and Earthjustice’s mission.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
