Overview

We are seeking a Senior WordPress Developer to join our nearshore development team in Lisboa, Portugal. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality WordPress websites and applications for our international clients.

In Short

Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative web solutions
Optimize website performance, security, and user experience
Troubleshoot and resolve complex WordPress issues
Implement responsive design and ensure cross-browser compatibility
Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices documentation
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance
Communicate effectively with clients and team members across different time zones

Requirements

5+ years of professional experience in WordPress development
Advanced knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Proficiency in developing custom WordPress themes and plugins
Strong understanding of WordPress core, including APIs and hooks
Experience with version control systems, preferably Git
Expertise in responsive design and mobile-first development
Familiarity with MySQL and database optimization techniques
Knowledge of WordPress security best practices and performance optimization
Experience with nearshore development processes and cross-cultural communication
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management and organizational abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
Fluency in English; knowledge of Portuguese is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (preferred)
WordPress certifications (preferred)
