Manager I, Engineering - Metrics Intake - Remote

Overview

The Metrics Intake team is responsible for building and maintaining a suite of low-latency, high availability services in Datadog’s metrics intake pipeline. These services transform and enrich petabytes of data per day in data centers around the world. As Engineering Manager, you will lead a highly motivated, growing team of engineers in developing the next generation of these services.

In Short

• Lead and mentor a team of 7+ software engineers.
• Drive improvements in the resilience, availability and efficiency of the team’s services.
• Work with engineering and product leaders to define well-prioritized OKRs and roadmaps to maximize the team’s impact.
• Manage large cross-team projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Share on-call responsibilities with the rest of the team and ensure a culture of operational excellence.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a people manager or technical leader with strong mentorship skills.
• Experience in career development, performance management, tracking and optimizing team efficiency, OKRs, and hiring.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems in production.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture.
• Experience leading incident responses and writing post mortems.
• Comfortable managing and working with geographically distributed teams.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent professional experience.
