Overview

Developer Advocates at Datadog are engineers who share their expertise with practitioners across the community - customers and non-customers alike. As an Engineering Manager I on the Advocacy team, you will be a key people and technical leader. You'll manage a small team of Developer Advocates focused on Application Development and Performance, driving value in developer communities while championing modern software development practices.

In Short

  • Lead a team of Developer Advocates, guiding their work priorities, and fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
  • Contribute to defining the team’s OKRs and team strategy, driving execution.
  • Ensure high-quality output from your team by removing technical and procedural roadblocks.
  • Balance management and hands-on delivery, contributing technical content as needed.
  • Work across internal teams to support Advocacy initiatives and prioritize requests.

Requirements

  • Former software developer or SRE with strong technical judgment.
  • 2-5 years experience managing a small team and coaching performance.
  • Experienced developer advocate skilled in reaching developers through various channels.
  • Comfortable with at least 2 programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js).
  • Familiar with modern infrastructure such as IaaS cloud services and containers.
