Overview

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing, and distributing medical and surgical instruments, ensuring high-quality patient care.

In Short

  • Fast-paced work environment in the Sterile Processing Department.
  • 90-day orientation including SPD 101 class and preceptor guidance.
  • Assemble case carts for surgical procedures based on schedules.
  • Transport sterilized instruments to the operating room.
  • Follow a processing cycle: Decontaminate, Inspect, Assemble, Package, Sterilize, Store, Dispense.
  • Maintain records and track surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment focused on patient care.
  • Required certifications include CBSPD or IAHCSMM within specified time frame.
  • Full-time evening shifts, Monday to Friday with variable weekends.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • CBSPD Certification in Sterile Processing Management or IAHCSMM Certification required within 1 year and 6 months.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Willingness to comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to handle surgical instruments safely and effectively.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.
