Overview

We are looking for an experienced Database Performance Engineer with strong expertise in PostgreSQL for our client in the banking sector.

In Short

• Analyze ingestion and transformation workloads to identify performance bottlenecks.
• Evaluate the use of Citus vs. native PostgreSQL features.
• Conduct performance experiments comparing columnar and row-based storage.
• Optimize query planning, indexing, and memory/I/O usage.
• Develop improved ingestion patterns using PostgreSQL and Citus.
• Set up and enhance observability tools.
• Deliver actionable recommendations for performance improvement.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals and query handling.
• Strong understanding of database performance and SQL optimization.
• Experience with analytical workloads and update-heavy scenarios.
• Hands-on experience designing performance experiments.
• Familiarity with observability tools and performance metrics.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
• Experience with Citus and columnar storage is a plus.
• Fluent in English.
