Senior Data Scientist - Remote

Overview

The Constructive Dialogue Institute (CDI) is a non-partisan, non-profit dedicated to equipping the next generation of Americans with the skills to communicate and collaborate across lines of difference. We work with U.S. colleges and universities by providing co-curricular programming for students, professional development for faculty and staff, and strategic guidance to leadership. Our goal is to foster constructive dialogue at every level of the institution and to create the conditions for lasting organizational change. CDI was co-founded by psychologist Jonathan Haidt, the bestselling author of The Righteous Mind and The Anxious Generation.

In Short

• Own CDI’s research and analytics data infrastructure.
• Build and maintain data pipelines using reproducible ETL/ELT practices.
• Lead the rebuild and modernization of CDI’s analytics and reporting layer.
• Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reporting tools.
• Establish trusted metric definitions and governance practices.
• Co-lead evaluation work for AI dialogue coach.
• Support quantitative data preparation and analysis for studies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with various teams.
• 6+ years of relevant professional experience required.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL, Python, and R.

Requirements

• Experience in cloud-based data environments, including AWS.
• Experience with Git and documentation/testing practices.
• Strong judgment about data quality and governance.
• Prior experience using AI tools in data science workstreams.
• Ability to translate ambiguous data problems into clear deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working cross-functionally with multiple teams.
• Advanced degree in related fields is a plus.
• Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven settings is a bonus.
