Overview

This role focuses on implementing and enforcing New York City’s climate policies, which aim to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In Short

  • Work on enforcement cases and projects with the Sustainability Bureau.
  • Manage all areas of case management including research and legal strategy.
  • Prepare reports and analyses on cases and enforcement processes.
  • Support the collection of penalties and fines.
  • Develop mediated resolutions.
  • Conduct legal research and write legal memoranda.
  • Complete special projects and assignments.
  • Eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week.
  • Must be a member of the New York State Bar in good standing.
  • Engage in various duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • One year of legal experience post-bar admission or six months as an Agency Attorney Intern.
  • Experience in environmental law is preferred.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Commitment to sustainability and climate policies.
