Assistant Civil Engineer - Remote

Overview

The Assistant Civil Engineer will work with a multi-disciplinary team to design and implement complex transportation planning, safety, and engineering projects in New York City.

• Must be reachable on the civil service list for Assistant Civil Engineer, Exam #5015.
• Responsible for transportation studies to support safe streets and intersections.
• Develop understanding of trade-offs in transportation improvements.
• Assist in environmental studies under CEQR/SEQR/NEPA processes.
• Conduct traffic operation and safety studies.
• Use analysis tools like HCS, Synchro, and traffic simulation models.
• Perform engineering reviews of transportation projects.
• Prepare reports and graphic materials for presentations.
• Participate in technical and advisory committee meetings.
• Valid NYS Driver's License required.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering or related field.
• One year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.
• Experience in CEQR and NEPA processes preferred.
• Proficiency in HCS, Synchro, AutoCAD, and traffic simulation models.
• Knowledge of engineering principles and traffic environmental impact studies.
• Excellent writing and oral presentation skills.
