Environmental Monitor - Remote

Overview

The Environmental Monitor will primarily be responsible for conducting environmental inspection and monitoring throughout the construction of various energy development projects, ensuring compliance and supporting wildlife monitoring activities.

• Conduct daily inspections of construction activities.
• Perform migratory bird nest sweeps and wildlife monitoring.
• Implement mitigation measures from environmental management documents.
• Inspect erosion and sediment control measures.
• Oversee soils handling activities.
• Develop corrective action plans for environmental issues.
• Act as an environmental lead for the construction team.
• Verify marking of environmentally sensitive areas.
• Complete daily and monthly environmental reports.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies as needed.

Requirements

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Biology or Environmental Science.
• 5+ years of experience as an Environmental Monitor or related role.
• Experience with pipeline or renewable energy projects is an asset.
• Strong communication skills for data collection and report writing.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices.
• Experience with ESRI products like ArcGIS Pro is a plus.
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
• Valid Driver's License required.
