Overview

The Senior Wildlife Biologist will act as an expert in wildlife resources, with the ability to support projects in various jurisdictions across the country. This role focuses on projects within the Energy Sector, including transmission, oil and gas, and renewables.

In Short

  • Lead and oversee various wildlife related field surveys.
  • Provide recommendations on mitigation and monitoring during construction activities.
  • Prepare required permit applications related to wildlife resources.
  • Prepare Wildlife Reports for Environmental Assessments and regulatory applications.
  • Provide strategic guidance on wildlife management and regulatory approvals.
  • Support proposal preparation and technical scope development.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of project deliverables.
  • Consult with contractors, regulators, landowners, and clients.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in wildlife biology.
  • Experience leading wildlife field surveys in remote settings.
  • Experience conducting Environmental Assessments for regulated projects.
  • Strong knowledge of wildlife regulations and best management practices.
  • Excellent communication skills for data collection and report writing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with ESRI products like ArcGIS Pro is an asset.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial wildlife legislation.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
