Overview

The Nursing Assistant at UMass Memorial Health is responsible for providing patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, supporting patients with daily activities and maintaining a safe environment.

In Short

• Provide constant observation for patients at risk for injury.
• Obtain and report vital signs and perform blood glucose testing.
• Ensure patient safety and cleanliness in the environment.
• Document patient care activities in the electronic medical record.
• Transport patients safely and handle specimens appropriately.
• Maintain current CPR certification and competencies.
• Precept new nursing assistants as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Must have nursing assistant experience or training.
• Current nursing assistant certification (CNA) preferred.
• Ability to follow infection control guidelines.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated competency in patient care delivery.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training.
