Overview

The Certified Surgical Technologist assists surgical teams during operative procedures, ensuring a sterile environment and readiness for surgeries at UMass Memorial Health.

In Short

• Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week.
• Responsible for scrubbing for all physicians in assigned services.
• Prepares and inventories sterile setups for operations.
• Assists in the positioning of patients and passing instruments.
• Participates in the turnover of operating rooms.
• Maintains current surgical technologist certification.
• Demonstrates proficiency and independent functioning in the scrub role.
• Responds to the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
• Utilizes various OR equipment effectively.
• Promotes teamwork and supports co-workers.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
• Certification from a nationally recognized body.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Thorough knowledge of surgical technology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with surgical procedures and instruments.
• Commitment to patient care and safety.
