Medical Records Specialist - Remote

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to support our growing virtual mental health team. In this role, you will manage incoming and outgoing records requests, ensuring patient data is accurate, complete, and securely maintained in compliance with HIPAA.

In Short

• Evaluate, prioritize, and process incoming and outgoing records requests.
• Verify and review forms for accuracy, legibility, and completeness.
• Maintain medical records tracker and ensure records are up to date.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with HIPAA.
• Interface with patients and external partners for records requests.
• Gather and deliver patient documentation as needed.
• Process and review patient documents for Release of Information.
• Respond to external medical records audit requests.
• Liaise with third-party requestors.
• Ensure accuracy and security of patient data.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience in medical records.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM coding standards and CPT-4 terminologies.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent time management abilities.
• Professional communication skills.
• Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
• Knowledge of confidentiality policies.
• Experience in behavioral health or virtual healthcare environments is a plus.
