Overview

As a Legal Counsel at Ashby, you will be the key legal advisor to SaaS product teams, focusing on privacy law and navigating changing regulations while supporting the company's growth.

In Short

• Provide legal advice on new products and features, especially related to AI and candidate data.
• Own privacy compliance and streamline data subject access requests.
• Respond to customer security and compliance inquiries.
• Collaborate on customer-facing compliance documentation.
• Partner with security teams on incidents and communications.
• Stay updated on industry regulations affecting AI and privacy law.
• Advise on data practices and cross-border transfers.
• Support vendor due diligence on privacy terms.
• Contribute to a wide range of legal matters including IP and employment.
• Shape the operations of the legal function as the company grows.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the US.
• 6-8 years of legal experience focusing on product counseling and privacy.
• In-house experience at a fast-growing tech company.
• Exposure to AI and SaaS product environments.
• Strong technical understanding of product architecture and data flows.
• Commercial mindset to enable product velocity.
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex regulations.
