Accounting Manager - Remote

Overview

The Accounting Manager plays a key role in ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of the organization’s financial operations, reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and supervising the Senior Finance Associate.

In Short

• Prepare and record journal entries with a high degree of accuracy.
• Perform month-end and year-end close activities.
• Maintain and update budgets for all research projects.
• Manage annual financial statement audit.
• Review all cash disbursements for compliance.
• Supervise and mentor Senior Finance Associate.
• Create biweekly retirement plan funding schedules.
• Identify process improvement opportunities.
• Assist in annual budgeting process.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 4+ years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Proficient in Excel and nonprofit accounting software.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player with collaboration experience.
• Proven ability to manage staff.
• Must reside in Illinois.
