Director, Data & Privacy Legal - Remote

Overview

Airwallex is seeking a seasoned data and privacy legal leader to drive strategic data localisation, AI, customer information, and product issues while leading the global team.

In Short

• Lead the global data and privacy legal team.
• Drive strategic aspects of data localisation and AI.
• Provide privacy counseling to Product teams.
• Collaborate with Business leadership and Engineering.
• Develop and execute compliance programs for data regulations.
• Support the Sales team on data and privacy issues.
• Coordinate international data flows.
• Engage in strategic data initiatives across regions.
• Advise on legal issues related to financial services.
• Manage and grow a team of lawyers.

Requirements

• J.D. degree and active membership in a US state bar.
• 12 years of legal experience in financial services and technology.
• Extensive experience with US/EU data laws.
• Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
• Collaborative mindset and good sense of humor.
• Experience managing a team of lawyers.
• Familiarity with major privacy regimes like GDPR and CCPA.
• Experience in a fintech or globally distributed company preferred.
