Overview

The ACLU of Puerto Rico seeks a Legal Intern in the Legal Litigation, Policy and Legislative area of the ACLU Puerto Rico office. This is a hybrid role based out of the ACLU Puerto Rico office.

In Short

• Assist the Policy Counsel in legislative and policy matters.
• Analyze the constitutionality of pending legislation.
• Create and update policy issue briefs and legal memos.
• Conduct research for educational proposals and legislative briefs.
• Draft memoranda and briefs for legislative presentations.
• Verify legal citations and assist in administrative tasks.
• Engage in interviews during the intake process.
• Research news analysis and draft legal documents.
• Draft motions and briefs for court cases.
• Work collaboratively with the ACLU team.

Requirements

• Current law students who have completed one year of law school.
• Second and third year law students pursuing a J.D. degree.
• Commitment to civil rights and liberties.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
