The Mechanical Assist Specialist operates and maintains critical cardiovascular monitoring equipment, assisting in patient care during surgical procedures.

  • Assists perfusionists during cardiopulmonary bypass procedures.
  • Maintains equipment and performs quality control checks.
  • Trains and mentors technicians in the operating room.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and committees.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Prepares equipment for surgeries and manages inventory.
  • Works collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
  • May be on call 24 hours for procedures requiring assist devices.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in a dynamic work environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in healthcare or related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy.
  • Understanding of hemodynamic monitoring systems.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot mechanical assist devices.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
  • Experience with blood management techniques.
  • Compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
