Overview

The Emergency Department Secretary/Technician at Cooley Dickinson Hospital is responsible for performing a variety of direct and non-direct patient care duties, supporting the healthcare team in delivering exceptional patient care.

In Short

• Perform patient care related duties and clinical functions as assigned.
• Take vital signs and perform EKGs.
• Assist RNs and physicians with exams and treatments.
• Ensure appropriate stock of supplies and equipment in the unit.
• Document patient care and changes in condition.
• Transport patients as needed.
• Participate in quality improvement processes.
• Demonstrate cooperative behavior with peers.
• Encourage junior nursing and physician assistant students to apply.
• Work under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association required.
• De-escalation training required within 180 days of hire.
• Experience in nursing assistant or clinical assistant roles preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and handle crisis situations effectively required.
• Demonstrated competency in nursing assistant skills checklist required.
