Overview

Wealthsimple is seeking an experienced and strategic cybersecurity leader to manage and grow its Detection & Response team, focusing on maturing security capabilities and incident response.

In Short

• Oversee and guide the strategy for evolving security incident response capabilities.
• Lead planning and facilitation of tabletop exercises for organizational readiness.
• Serve as senior leader during major security incidents.
• Oversee execution of the security detection strategy.
• Partner with Engineering and Security Engineering teams for visibility in critical systems.
• Ensure integration of detection and response functions.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented developers.
• Manage the team's on-call rotation for sustainable operations.
• Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
• Translate technical findings into actionable insights for the business.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, focusing on defensive security operations.
• 4+ years of experience leading a security function.
• Deep experience as an Incident Commander for complex incidents.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams during high-stress situations.
• Strong technical foundation in cloud infrastructure and security logging.
• Strategic mindset for developing long-term visions for security functions.
• Excellent judgment and communication skills.
• Passion for mentoring and team success.
