Overview

The Office of Data, Academic Planning & Institutional Research (DAPIR) at UW-Madison is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to enhance data accessibility and usability for informed decision-making.

In Short

Join a collaborative Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRDS) team.
Develop and maintain data visualization dashboards and reports.
Support data governance and ensure quality of institutional data.
Help transition to Workday HR and Finance reporting.
Work with a variety of stakeholders to identify data needs.
Utilize advanced data visualization and storytelling techniques.
Manage multiple competing projects and resources effectively.
Oversee complex BI development documentation and standards.
Provide subject matter expertise for enterprise BI tools.
Engage in occasional work-related travel.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
Strong understanding of databases and data structures.
Experience with SQL and BI solutions development.
Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Qlik.
Experience in querying data warehouses and transforming data.
Consultative problem-solving skills with clients.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Experience in higher education is preferred.
Knowledge of PHP or similar web scripting languages is a plus.
Experience building reports in Workday is advantageous.
