Prescribed Fire Practitioner III - Remote

Overview

Join us as a Prescribed Fire Practitioner and be at the heart of an evolving fire culture. The Nature Conservancy’s North America Fire program is developing a prescribed fire workforce to put more good fire on the ground in the places where it matters most.

In Short

• Assist on prescribed and wildland fire operations throughout the United States.
• Conduct prescribed burns and prepare fire lines.
• Monitor post-burn fire effects and maintain equipment.
• Work under supervision and coordinate with fire management staff.
• Participate in partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies.
• Become competent with mobile mapping and data collection.
• Perform heavy physical work in variable weather conditions.
• Maintain accurate records of work time and expenses.
• Work as a respectful member of a diverse team.
• Expected to be on prescribed fire assignments for at least eight weeks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain qualifications for Prescribed Fire Crew Member or Fire Fighter Type 2.
• Experience operating various types of equipment.
• Must achieve physical fitness standards.
• Two or more years of experience in fire operations is desired.
