Overview

The Advanced Network Engineer at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is responsible for supporting and monitoring the network engineering environment, ensuring maximum uptime for local and wide area networks.

In Short

  • Support and monitor the UAMS network engineering environment.
  • Work with networking equipment from various manufacturers including Cisco and Juniper.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with IT and campus departments to ensure network reliability.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies beneficial to UAMS.
  • Provide mentoring to the network team.
  • Manage network monitoring software and tools.
  • Utilize troubleshooting tools for network connectivity issues.
  • Work in a large data network environment.
  • Contribute to improving patient care through technology.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8 years of IT experience or equivalent.
  • Experience in network engineering equipment support.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Knowledge of OSI Layers 1-4 and TCP/IP environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various operating systems.
  • Must have a vehicle for commuting to off-campus meetings.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with network monitoring software like SolarWinds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
