Agent Engineer - US Remote

Overview

TRM Labs provides blockchain analytics and AI solutions to help law enforcement and national security agencies, financial institutions, and cryptocurrency businesses detect, investigate, and disrupt crypto-related fraud and financial crime. The AI Engineering Team is focused on enabling next-generation AI applications, particularly in Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic systems.

In Short

• Architect and implement a robust agentic framework that supports tool use, context retrieval, memory, and planning.
• Build intelligent, modular agents that automate investigative tasks and augment analyst decision-making.
• Extend and scale LLM infrastructure, including prompt engineering and evaluation loops.
• Design safe, observable, and auditable agent behaviors.
• Evaluate performance across various metrics and iterate based on feedback.
• Contribute to a culture of high ownership and ethical AI deployment.

Requirements

• Strong engineering background with deep experience in backend or systems work (Python preferred).
• Hands-on experience building with LLMs and tooling frameworks.
• Comfort with agentic pipelines and optimizing information flow.
• Thoughtful approach to system design focusing on safety and scalability.
• High product empathy and a bias toward experimentation.
• Experience with knowledge graphs or AI safety is a plus.
