Accounting Manager - General Ledger & Payroll - Remote

Overview

We are seeking an Accounting Manager focused on General Ledger and Payroll to support impactful roadway and active transportation projects at Toole Design.

In Short

• Lead and support core accounting functions with a focus on general ledger integrity and payroll operations.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
• Oversee journal entries, reconciliations, and the monthly close process.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports and present insights to management.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies in alignment with GAAP, FAR, and CAS.
• Support payroll processes and multi-state tax compliance.
• Partner across departments to provide financial guidance and support audits.
• Manage and mentor accounting staff to drive consistency and accountability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a project-based or A&E environment.
• Supervisory experience, including mentoring and managing staff.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with large ERP systems (Deltek Vantagepoint preferred).
• Working knowledge of FAR, CAS, multi-state payroll, and multi-currency accounting.
• Experience managing general ledger functions, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• High integrity and attention to detail.
