Data Protection Engineer - Expert - Remote

Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Data Protection Engineer, Expert to join our cybersecurity and compliance team. This role is critical in safeguarding sensitive financial data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling secure collaboration across our Microsoft 365 environment.

In Short

• Lead the implementation and optimization of Microsoft Purview and related M365 security tools.
• Design and implement data protection solutions using Microsoft Purview, Entra, and Defender XDR.
• Develop and maintain DLP policies, sensitivity labels, and retention policies.
• Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Compliance, and IT teams.
• Monitor and respond to data protection alerts and incidents.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Stay current with data privacy laws and regulatory guidance.
• 5+ years of experience in data protection or cybersecurity.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 security tools.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data protection, cybersecurity, or technical engineering.
• 1 year of experience with Microsoft 365 security tools.
• 3 years of experience with PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with financial data classification.
• Familiarity with third-party risk management.
• Strong understanding of data governance and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Microsoft certifications such as SC-400 or SC-100 are preferred.
