Principal of AI Research and Development - Remote

In Short

• Conduct creative and inquisitive research and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities in the field of Machine Learning and Data Science.
• Lead proposal writing for new opportunities with government R&D organizations and/or commercial companies.
• Be the internal champion of AI/ML to technical and non-technical partners.
• Bring your technical expertise and project management skills to become the AI subject matter expert for small teams of researchers and engineers on advanced R&D projects.
• Develop and evaluate algorithms to understand the content multi-modal data, and/or perform reasoning on extracted data.
• Contribute to the growth of our portfolio by providing state-of-the-art vision across the board.
• Work closely with customers to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into our products.
• Collaborate with external, well-known academic and industry researchers in Machine Learning, AI, computer vision, and natural language processing (NLP).
• Enjoy support and encouragement for participation in national AI/ML conferences.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in machine learning (including academic experience).
• Experience writing grants or competitive proposals for funding.
• Experience or knowledge of business development.
• A Proven Entrepreneurial mindset.
• Passion to continue learning about emerging ML technology.
• Experience with or knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Ability to lead, coach, and mentor junior data scientists and engineers.
• Experience with advanced data analytics and statistical models and methods.
• Practical applications of machine learning techniques such as Clustering, Logistic Regression, CART, Random Forests, SVM or Neural Networks.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks like Tensorflow, Pytorch, etc.
