Medical Billing Specialist - Remote

Overview

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for the complete and accurate billing process and patient charges in accordance with Business Office procedures as it pertains to Patient Accounts.

In Short

• Review visit coding, post charges, payments, and adjustments.
• Process claims for reimbursement and ensure documentation is included.
• Gather information to ensure timely processing of claims.
• Generate revenue by making payment arrangements and collecting accounts.
• Educate patients on insurance and claims questions.
• Follow HIPAA and OSHA policies.
• Participate in educational opportunities to update job knowledge.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Utilize collection agencies when necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proficient in typing and oral communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and detail oriented.
• Prior billing experience in a medical office preferred.
• Experience with patient registration and insurance information preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of experience in a business office setting required.
• Previous dermatology experience preferred.
