Medical Billing Specialist - Remote

Overview

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for the complete and accurate billing process and patient charges in accordance with Business Office procedures as it pertains to Patient Accounts.

In Short

• Reviewing visit coding, posting charges, payments, and adjustments.
• Processing claims for reimbursement and ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
• Gathering information to ensure timely processing and reimbursement of claims.
• Generating revenue by making payment arrangements and collecting accounts.
• Educating patients on insurance and claims questions.
• Securing payments by interviewing and obtaining information from patients.
• Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Following HIPAA and OSHA policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proficient in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and detail oriented.
• Strong computer skills.
• Prior billing experience within a medical office/clinic preferred.
• Ability to communicate calmly and clearly with patients.
• Ability to navigate Practice Management and EHR systems.
