Overview

The Maine Department of Labor is seeking an Unemployment Tax Associate who has a keen eye for detail and a passion for customer service. This position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule, combining remote and in-office work.

In Short

  • Provide customer service to employers regarding Unemployment Tax policies.
  • Research and resolve suspended tax reports and payments.
  • Adjust tax and wage reports as necessary.
  • Reconcile tax and wage reports that are out of balance.
  • Make liability determinations using established criteria.
  • Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Assist employers with reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct research and analysis to reach conclusions.
  • Manage cases and track documents for follow-up actions.
  • Adapt to changing priorities in tasks.

Requirements

  • Entry-level to intermediate experience in office and administrative support.
  • Competency in conducting research and compiling data.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and stay organized.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Patience in dealing with frustrated customers.
  • Integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
