Senior Data Engineer (Azure) - Freelance/Remote

Overview

We are looking for a Data Engineer to design and build modern data platforms on Azure. This role focuses on transforming raw data into reliable, scalable, and analytics-ready foundations that support reporting, advanced analytics, and AI-driven use cases.

In Short

• Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Build transformations using Python, PySpark, and SQL.
• Orchestrate workflows using Azure tools.
• Integrate data from multiple structured and semi-structured sources.
• Design and maintain data lakes/lakehouse architectures.
• Implement medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold).
• Build dimensional and analytical models for reporting.
• Configure and manage Azure data services.
• Implement data validation rules and pipeline testing.
• Ensure production-ready deployments and data quality.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
• Strong experience with Python, PySpark, and advanced SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and ADLS Gen2.
• Familiarity with Databricks, Synapse, or Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with Delta Lake and lakehouse architectures.
• Knowledge of Power BI (DAX + semantic modeling).
• Experience in CI/CD for data pipelines is a plus.
• Fluent in English (B1-B2) and Spanish (native/fluent).
• Experience in distributed teams is a plus.
