Overview

The Technical Writer supports the USDA FNS SPARS program by creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences. This role ensures that user guides, system documentation, and procedural materials are clear, accurate, accessible, and compliant with USDA standards, including Section 508.

  • Develop and maintain user manuals, SOPs, and training guides.
  • Collaborate with developers and federal stakeholders.
  • Edit and proofread documentation for clarity and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA branding and Section 508 standards.
  • Maintain document version control and organization in repositories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, IT, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a technical writer.
  • Ability to write clear, concise documentation.
  • Experience with document editing tools.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must work 8am-5pm Eastern Time regardless of location.
