As a Freelance News Contributor at ScreenRant, you will be responsible for sourcing timely news and creating high-quality content for one of the leading entertainment websites.

In Short

• Core responsibility is in sourcing news in a timely fashion
• Adding news titles and sources to Asana for writers to claim
• Understanding of what makes a good news title/angle
• Making judgements on what is flash news vs news vs something to spike to features
• Ensuring news quotas are hit
• Assigning news articles/communicating with writers on news assignments
• Editing news articles and prioritizing most timely edits
• Prepping soft/niche news for weekends
• Sending writer feedback/writer development
• Writing news articles when needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
• 2 years of experience in producing entertainment and related content.
• In-depth familiarity with and fierce passion for the entertainment industry.
• Experience with SEO practices.
• Experience with a custom CMS, preferred.
