In Short

• Work on improving storage efficiency for metrics, logs, and other types of data.
• Advance the ES|QL solution to query data effectively.
• Enhance current logging solutions for data persistence.
• Improve metrics processing capabilities for customer adoption.
• Extend logic for efficient querying and aggregating stored data.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team of engineers.
• Write idiomatic modern Java, as Elasticsearch is primarily Java-based.
• Contribute to the Elasticsearch community through issues and pull requests.
• Invent new algorithms or data structures as needed.
• Work autonomously on projects from design to implementation.

Requirements

• Strong core Java skills and knowledge of data structures and concurrency.
• Excellent understanding of concurrent and parallel programming principles.
• Background in applied data processing, including algorithms.
• Familiarity with storage systems and low-level OS abstractions.
• Ability to guide projects from start to finish.
• Solid software engineering foundations with a track record of high-quality solutions.
• Experience with collaborative development and feedback processes.
• Knowledge of data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
