Overview

The Editorial Intern contributes to ONC’s mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by completing essential tasks for the Editorial Team at ONC, including editing written content and fact-checking.

In Short

• Edit written content to maintain grammatical integrity.
• Ensure nonpartisanship and ideological diversity in published work.
• Participate in civil dialogue with diverse writers.
• Work with script writers to ensure consistency.
• Fact-check written content to maintain accuracy.
• Collaborate with Policy Content Writers.
• Communicate regularly with Editorial Team Lead and Managing Editor.
• Work remotely using Zoom and Slack.
• Commit to at least the end of the Fall semester.
• Complete a competency assessment during the interview.

Requirements

• Current student in English, Literature, Political Science, Journalism, or related fields.
• Exceptional writing skills in English.
• Proficient verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Prior editing experience preferred, specifically with AP style.
• Responsive and effective communicator.
• Ability to work remotely and meet deadlines.
• Google Workspace experience preferred.
• Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.
