Overview

The Pre-Service Representative at Ochsner Health is responsible for assisting patients by communicating with insurance payors to determine eligible benefits and acquiring necessary pre-certifications. This role ensures the pre-service process is completed before the patient's scheduled services.

In Short

  • Assist patients with insurance communication and pre-certification processes.
  • Gather and validate insurance and demographic information.
  • Interact with insurance companies to verify benefits and obtain authorizations.
  • Utilize the EPIC system for benefits verification.
  • Prepare and communicate patient liability for services.
  • Ensure exceptional patient experience through effective communication.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical providers and case management teams.
  • Perform data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
  • Travel to other facilities as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1 year of related experience in healthcare or customer service.
  • Proficient in Windows-style applications and data entry.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation for potential travel to other facilities.
