The Hospital AR Collector – Level III is responsible for managing high-balance insurance accounts, ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement through detailed follow-ups and appeals.

In Short

  • Responsible for follow-up and resolution of high-balance insurance accounts.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of insurance payers and medical billing practices.
  • Must complete in-depth reviews and follow-ups on accounts typically over $10,000.
  • Identifies trends causing delays or denials and escalates issues appropriately.
  • Writes appeals and reconsiderations for denied or underpaid claims.
  • Reviews medical records and contracts for medical necessity.
  • Works closely with billing, coding, and payment posting departments.
  • Communicates effectively with insurance carriers and internal departments.
  • Handles a minimum of 30 accounts daily with high accuracy.
  • Maintains productivity standards set by the department.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in Surgical or Acute Care Hospital settings.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and government payers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations and competing priorities.
  • Experience with Cerner and Nthrive required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong mathematical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
