3D Lead - Remote

Overview

ngx is hiring a 3D Lead on retainer to help us take our 3D capabilities to the next level. This role is designed for a talented 3D Artist who is looking for both the stability of being part of a studio and the freedom to take on freelance or personal projects. Some in-person presence at our Vancouver, BC studio is ideal but not required — remote candidates will also be considered.

In Short

• Work closely with the Head of Animation and project teams to create high-quality 3D visuals.
• Split time between hands-on creative work and leadership responsibilities.
• Drive look development, modeling, texturing, lighting, and asset animation.
• Guide in-house and freelance artists to ensure project consistency.
• Anticipate and tackle technical and production challenges.
• Contribute to narrative and visual storytelling through 3D production techniques.
• Participate in client presentations and project milestones.
• Commit to mentorship and knowledge-sharing within the team.
• Uphold studio conventions and best practices.
• Engage in a collaborative and creative environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional 3D production experience.
• A portfolio showcasing skills and experience.
• Proven leadership skills in animation or VFX.
• Advanced proficiency in Maya, Blender, or equivalent software.
• Strong knowledge of Substance Painter for texturing workflows.
• Experience with lighting, rendering, and look development.
• Confident in asset animation and cinematic storytelling.
• Ability to troubleshoot asset pipelines and workflows.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Commitment to high standards and quality in work.
