Data Analyst - Remote

Overview

Newsweek is hiring a Data Analyst to join a growing team in India. The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing diverse datasets to support the city ranking methodology. This role ensures data quality, consistency, and relevance, providing the analytical foundation for the project’s outputs.

In Short

• Support the creation of the rankings database, including design of data structures and the master data management approach.
• Collect, load, transform, and analyze datasets (economic, environmental, survey, etc.).
• Filter and sort data to support the ranking process.
• Write code to transform data within the rankings data architecture.
• Support desk research and expert panel analysis with quantitative insights.
• Ensure data quality and consistency across all geographies and sources.
• Prepare data for editorial and reporting outputs, including visualizations and tables.
• Document data processes and methodologies for transparency and reproducibility.

Requirements

• Analytical mindset.
• Ability to identify data quality issues.
• Good SQL skills within a Postgres or similar database.
• Data science coding experience (for example in R or Python).
• Ability to communicate data insights to non-technical team members.
