Medical Biller (US Healthcare) - Hybrid Midshift - Remote

Overview

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for posting medical charges, payments, and journal entries to patient accounts in a timely and accurate manner while working with insurance companies and healthcare providers.

• Work directly with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
• Verify correct insurance filing information.
• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software.
• Follow up on unpaid claims.
• Research and appeal denied claims.
• Handle protected health information in compliance with HIPAA.
• Check eligibility and benefit verification.
• Review patient bills for accuracy.
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, and state Medicaid.
• Denial management experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Able to perform eligibility verification and precertification.
• Experience in calling insurance companies for claim status.
• Ability to read superbills and make charge entries.
• Knowledge of posting ERA and EOB from various systems.
• Credentialing knowledge is a plus.
