Robotics Software Engineer - Remote

Overview

At Near Space Labs, we design, build and operate a fleet of stratospheric robots to image the Earth. We launch our proprietary, balloon-based imaging robots to heights between 40,000 and 60,000 feet. From this vantage point, we capture petabytes of imagery for a variety of use cases.

In Short

• Develop onboard software for stratospheric platforms.
• Contribute to C++ software development in flight vehicle’s onboard computer.
• Interface with servomotors, cameras, and other peripherals.
• Design automatic fault detection and recovery algorithms.
• Optimize low-level functions.
• Process flight logs using Python scripting and APIs.
• Run hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations.
• Design and follow test processes.
• Coordinate with mechanical and electronics engineers.
• Participate in test flights.

Requirements

• Proactivity, drive, and ownership.
• 4+ years experience in software development for robotics or embedded systems.
• Proficiency in C/C++.
• Experience with Python.
• Familiarity with Linux systems.
• Knowledge of Git.
• Experience with sensors, actuators, and single-board computers.
• Knowledge of PCB design is a plus.
