Lead Veteran Service Officer - Remote

Overview

The Lead Veteran Service Officer (Lead VSO) is responsible for training and supporting Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) while managing the accurate and timely filing of veteran benefits claims.

In Short

• Train and mentor VSO staff on veterans' benefit claims processes.
• Develop and update training materials for staff compliance.
• Provide ongoing support to maintain high standards of service.
• Plan and coordinate activities of the County Veterans’ Services office.
• Manage public information and outreach activities for veterans.
• Assist veterans in applying for federal benefits.
• Research medical conditions to support claims.
• Assist veterans in appealing denied claims.
• Keep current on legislative changes affecting veterans' benefits.
• Serve as the county’s liaison to veteran service organizations.

Requirements

• B.S. in social or behavioral sciences preferred.
• Minimum of three years in veterans' services.
• Certification as a Veteran Service Officer by the Veterans Administration.
• Strong understanding of veterans' benefits.
• Proven leadership and training skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in office technology and software.
