Overview

Be a part of a dynamic team dedicated to supporting educators who are working to enact the new vision of teaching and learning articulated in A Framework for K12 Science Education. A NSTA STEM Education Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting STEM programs and initiatives while promoting career pathways across preK-16. Key responsibilities of this position include professional learning development, instructional materials development, assessment development, program coordination, community engagement, and technology integration. This position will report to the Chief Learning Officer.

In Short

  • Work closely with the PL Division to ensure all programs’ components reflect and align with contemporary research in teaching and learning of Three Dimensional Science/STEM.
  • Drive STEM product and service development.
  • Develop and manage content, guidelines, and timelines for STEM programs implementation.
  • Train to be a credentialed OpenSciEd Professional Learning Facilitator.
  • Facilitate workshops centered on computer science/AI.
  • Co-lead STEM cohorts and online forums.
  • Develop NSTA Web Seminars around STEM topics and careers.
  • Facilitate, and/or moderate NSTA Web Seminars.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4-10+ years related experience.
  • Science/STEM classroom teaching experience.
  • Development of STEM instructional materials.
  • Extensive knowledge of the research literature in science/STEM education reform.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • At least 2 years facilitating STEM professional learning.
  • OpenSciEd Anchoring Phenomenon Routine micro-credential.
  • Expert command of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with Google products.
  • Extensive experience using web conferencing products.
