Overview

The 988 Crisis Counselor provides immediate support and intervention for individuals experiencing emotional distress and mental health crises, operating within the framework of a national suicide and crisis hotline.

• Fully remote position with occasional in-person requirements in Chicago.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related fields required.
• 1-5 years of experience in counseling or crisis management.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle high-stress situations effectively.
• Familiarity with community resources and mental health services.
• Experience with vulnerable populations.
• Strong computer and multitasking skills.
• Commitment to serving underrepresented communities.
• Willingness to work in a diverse environment.
• Typing speed of at least 35-40 WPM preferred.
