Contingent Mid-Level Software Engineer (FE) - Remote

Overview

Are you looking to make an impact? We are looking for a Software Engineer to support the VA. In this position, you will be working in a small, cross-functional team of Human-Centered Design practitioners to understand and synthesize customer needs, strategize improved service delivery, and design innovative solutions built on SaaS and PaaS products for the VA: Health and Benefits mobile app.

In Short

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to define, design, and ship new systems and features.
• Participate in technical roadmap and architecture planning.
• Work with other engineers and set standards for clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Work with designers to review solutions for technical feasibility and accessibility.
• Participate in design and code reviews to ensure the quality of the codebase.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in an agile software development environment, with proficiency in React-Native.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain scalable design system, with a strong understanding of accessibility, UI/UX best practices, and design patterns.
• Ability to help prioritize, define, and architect work to ensure high quality while meeting our deadline goals.
• Experience working with product and design teams to understand customer requirements and use cases that inform the solution design.
• Comfort working in an agile, iterative, sprint based environment.
• Experience with accessibility, privacy, security, access management, and writing software that handles PII.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
