Overview

As the Financial Controller at Medal, you will own the US accounting, reporting, and compliance functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.

In Short

• Own and maintain Medal’s general ledger in accordance with US GAAP.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Develop and refine accounting policies and internal controls.
• Reconcile and maintain financial accounts.
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition and expense classification.
• Manage US federal and state corporate taxes.
• Oversee international tax compliance and payroll compliance.
• Prepare internal reporting and support external reporting.
• Build and optimize financial processes.
• Collaborate across teams to support growth and efficiency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Deep expertise in US GAAP.
• Hands-on experience with US and international tax.
• Experience managing audits and complex reconciliations.
• Extreme attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Familiarity with modern accounting tools.
• Experience at a startup preferred.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities.
