Overview

As an Operating Engineer in the aerospace and defense industry, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility equipment across all systems. Your technical expertise in a specific craft area such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations will be crucial.

In Short

  • Perform maintenance, monitoring repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems.
  • Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Clean, inspect, calibrate, and change parts to maintain HVAC systems at optimum performance levels.
  • Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Comply with safety policies for hazardous materials storage and disposal.
  • Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
  • Work exposed to varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, and night-time hours.
  • This is a 24/7 365 swing shift operation.
  • Requires ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Requirements

  • Ability to analyze operation of various Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • EPA 608 Type II Certification required; Universal Certification preferred.
  • 3-8 years of experience in maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
  • Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC desired.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
